Vikings Chef McKinney-Banks Wins Prestigious Award

Posted May 15, 2014

As Vikings Director of Food Service Operations, Geji McKinney-Banks plays an integral role in the team’s success on the field. What she does won’t be found in a box score or in a highlight reel, but the service she oversees at Winter Park is at the core of what enables coaches and players to deliver the final product.

Two weeks ago, though, McKinney-Banks earned recognition more profound than what you can see on SportsCenter or read in the newspaper clips. She was the recipient of the ARAMARK Encore Encore Recognition Award, an honor that rightfully recognizes the effort and passion she and her staff put into the Vikings food service program.

“We congratulate Geji on this prestigious award and are thankful she is part of our Vikings family,” Vikings Owner/President Mark Wilf said. “Geji won the overall national achievement award for her hard work and preparation for the Vikings International Series Game in London during the 2013 season, in which she was responsible for and did an outstanding job of educating the food service team in London on the special nutritional requirements and food preferences of the team.”

McKinney-Banks was honored at the ARAMARK Recognition Gala in Philadelphia. She was one of 12 finalists for the national award after being named a quarterly winner of the Encore Encore Recognition Program in the Set Goals, Act, and Win category.

Below are photos from a celebration the Vikings held in the Winter Park cafeteria to honor McKinney-Banks as well as a short video comprised of messages from Everson Griffen, Fred Evans and Harrison Smith thanking and honoring her.
